Travelling from East London to Bloemfontein over the last twenty six years I’ve always looked at this scene and always blamed myself afterwards that I did not stop to take a photo. Yesterday, in a bitterly cold winter wind I stopped for the first time to take a photo. I’ve heard about photographers that claim it took them so many years to take a photo. Well, I think I might have broken the record.
Coming from the old black and white wet darkroom, this new digital age has been a bit of a challenge. The conversion from colour to black and white with all this new photo editing software has never really given what I would like to see. Recent editing software has made huge progress in this regard and getting closer. The other challenge is the discrepancy between the colours that monitors display and the print. Well, the final proof is always in the print.
Hope you enjoy this one.
